CFMEU Statement Regarding the Bondi Terror Attack

The CFMEU expresses our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those killed and injured in the murderous attack at Bondi Beach. We also send our solidarity to Australia’s Jewish community and we unequivocally reject the antisemitic hatred that has driven this terrible act of violence.

We express our ongoing commitment, in the strongest possible terms, to an Australia where no-one is frightened to gather to express their views, share their culture or worship their faith.

The Union also sends our deepest thanks to the workers of the NSW emergency services, and those health and community workers now engaged around the clock to look after the injured and support the grieving.

While the evil acts of violence that were inflicted on the innocent on the 14th of December are rightly being condemned we can also take heart from the displays of courage which displayed true Australian values. We  honour the heroic bystanders who, without hesitation, put their own safety aside to protect others.

In solidarity, the Union expresses our profound belief in an Australia united by diversity and decency, rejecting hatred and division.
